This beautiful museum quality painting is an early dated example for the superb painting technique of Albert Lebourg.
Albert Lebourg is the most famous painter of the École de Rouen.
After studying with Gustave Morin at the Academie in Rouen, he occasionally emigrated to Algiers, where he taught drawing in a school from 1872 to 1877.
Lebourg collaborates for a time with J. P. Laurens in Paris, turning more and more to Impressionism in his artistic work. Lebourg's artistic career is promoted by Camille Pissarro, who recognizes his talent.
For the first time he exhibited in 1878 together with Monet, Sisley, Renoir and Pissarro on the Boulevard Montmartre. Later, Lebourg is represented in further Impressionist exhibitions and in the Salon of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and very successful.
Works in many museum worldwide such as the Musée d'Orsay, Paris and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York.
